The day was nice
as nice I thought it would be,
riding fast on the motorbike
feeling free, like today will never end.
Who’s idea for the shortcut over the tracks?
Time fades the minute details,
we were young and invincible
at least until that moment
Sometimes when you see death coming,
you see your entire life flash before
the final moment.
It isn’t true because in that moment
the train hurtled, no time
no time to move faster,
no time to move back
Bones cracking and screaming
from you and I,
sailing through the air,
the very same air we wished would never end.
And now it’s been three years
since we took a shortcut, never again do I take a short cut.
When I put down this pen,
I hope, I wish that I am dreaming
and soon I will wake and you’ll be there
laughing at my stupid dream.
I know it’s not so,
our time together is spent surrounded by walls of white
tubes in and out of your body,
sleeping between real and the surreal.
The cavities of my heart deepen each day I see
your body and your laugh I don’t hear.
I know, I hope, I wish, I pray as I hold your hand
that you’ll wake and the world would be ours again.

How long has it been?
Quantifying the years doesn’t do our friendship justice.
For it seems, you and I were always apart of one another.
Romantic love comes and goes,
so does family
But friends they stick around for the long haul
Why? Because that’s just what friends do.
Do remember when…
Of course you do.
I helped you become who are
You helped me become who I am.
With you, loneliness is a shy memory
We grow older
but together time never left,
laughing, once again like ten-year-olds
You are the mortar that holds my brick house together.
How long has it been?
Always.

Juniper and
Evergreen dancing to the
Null of the wind
Nights wandering among insect cries and full moons
If I can make my destiny before eyes of gray
For the day is different as my own
Enigma grows more strange
Ready or not world, here I come running away is out of the question
